The City of Laredo located on the Texas, Mexico border has an exciting mixture of cultures and a rich heritage. For several years there has been talk of a baseball team and stadium. Money was set aside in 2000, voters approved the project in 2008. HKS (the same firm that produced the Dallas Cowboy ‘s stadium) began the design and a team was created. It was time to build a stadium. Several contractors looked at the plans and most said the budget was too small and the schedule was unworkable.

Leyendecker Construction, Inc. is based in Laredo and is a strong supporter of the community. When they looked at the job they agreed the money was tight and the schedule was short but Laredo deserved the stadium and the community needed the project and the team. The project was five months behind schedule when the first spade of dirt was turned. There have been problems with schedules, equipment, etc. but the young ball players in Laredo are not worried, Leyendecker will see to it that the first pitch is thrown May of 2012.

CMC is proud to have furnished the rebar, column forms, shoring and accessories. We look forward to attending games in Uni-Trade Stadium and seeing young baseball stars with their Lemur hats, baseball gloves and smiles from ear to ear.

For the second year in a row the Branch of the Year trophy (this is determined by Sales, Safety Record and Service) was awarded to Branch 47 in Alexandria, Louisiana for fiscal year 2011.

For the past 3 decades as a way to give back to their customers the Corpus Christi location has been holding an Annual Customer Appreciation Shrimp Boil. This event is held each December and gives the branch and its employees the opportunity to let customers know that their ongoing business is appreciated.

Each year the branch asks special vendors to participate in this event and this year there were representatives from Dayton Superior, Lyon’s Manufacturing, Meadow Burke, and Euclid. A very special thank you goes to Mike Hutzler, Gary Woltersdorf, Mike Pruitt, Jim Laudadio, Ray Bridges, Cody Evans, Pat Harral, and Charlie Rutherford for all of their efforts to make this event a great success.

Congratulations to all the employees in the Corpus Christi branch for another successful shrimp boil!

Mansfield, Texas

Tarrant County College in Mansfield, Texas is expanding its parking lot by 300,000 square feet.  The small expansion project gave Osburn Contractors the opportunity to demonstration its modern approach to paving utilizing its laser screed, pump truck and total station.

For this project, Superintendent Edward Guiterrez, the Superintendent, used CMC Construction Services for all construction-related products, especially redwood expansion. The redwood expansion was nailed and drilled to plan specifications allowing Osburn to save money and time by insuring accuracy of dowel placement.

Thanks to the Dallas Saw Shop and Bobby Jones (22) for their hard work on this project.

This job allowed our Dallas location to demonstrate services outside of the typical consumables such as liquid color, stamp designs, tube cutting, in the field panel layouts and engineering’s ability to design projects with minimal use of strong-backs.

A special thanks to James Caldwell (22) for his above and beyond attention and hard work on this project.

Slidell, LA

Boh Bros. Construction Company is constructing a new frontage road from Fremeaux to Old Spanish Trail in Slidell, LA. This road consists of 9” thick paving per state spec with a small crossover bridge.

Boh Bros is a self performing concrete contractor along with many other departments such as, pile driving, pipe, and asphalt. CMC Construction Services supplied Boh with all the concrete accessories such as, plastic coated dowel bar baskets, rebar baskets, curing compound, form oil, curb steel and epoxy. A & A Saw Cutting performed the Soff Cutting and Joint sealing which CMC also supplied Saw Blades and Dow 890 Silicone.

We had a tight schedule to meet as far as delivery wise, being that we were shipping three eighteen wheeler loads at a time plus our Stake Body trucks. Thanks to both of our facilities in New Orleans and Baton Rouge we were able to meet Boh’s needs. Teamwork was a huge part in supplying this job. By everyone being on the same page along with staying on top of this job we were able to be successful.

Alexandria, LA

Louisiana DOT is working on a project to replace the two-lane Fort Buhlow Bridge with a four-lane bridge. The $82.9 million project includes a new high-rise bridge between Alexandria and Pineville, a new railroad overpass, two new cofferdams in the river and connections between existing roadways.

Jensen Construction is the prime contractor on this project and Diamond B Construction is responsible for the earth worth, drainage and asphalt roadway. Tarver Land Development handled all the clearing and demo work.

Erosion control, geotextile fabric, bar supports, forming supplies, cure, epoxy, grout, turbidity barrier and small tools have been sold on the project by the Alexandria location.

Alexandria, LA

England Airpark & Community is having a new aviation fuel facility constructed in Alexandria, LA. The general contractor is Tudor Inc., the site and base work are being performed by Tarver Land Development and JD’s Rebar and Construction are installing the rebar for the project.

The project includes two 265,000 gallon jet fuel tanks and a 10,000 gallon AV gas tank with loading and off-loading systems. The concrete paving is designed to catch any spills and divert them into a trench drain system provided by CMC Construction Services in Alexandria, LA. The sound support walls for the tank are complete and work is underway on the second phase of the containment walls. 

Erosion control, drainage products, bar supports, Shep 1107 Premium Grout, vapor barrier and small tools have been sold on this site by the Alexandria location. The form yards in Baton Rouge and Houston have provided all Symons forms and Meva Lite.
