Charleston Branch to Host Open House

CMC Construction Services will be hosting an Open House at its new North Charleston location Thursday, May 6, 2010.  The Open House will be held from 10:30am-1:30pm at the new facility located at 3430 Ashley Phosphate Rd.

CMC Construction Services’ top vendors, including Bosch Power Tools, W.R. Meadows and Husqvarna, will be on site to offer technical expertise, demonstrations, and showcase the latest in construction products and supplies.  The event will also include a free barbecue lunch, tours of the new facility, and prizes.

The new 12,700 square foot facility opened on February 4th, 2010 and features a brand new showroom containing the complete package of construction accessories and hardware supplies for any type of job.

We encourage everyone to come out and partake in this exciting event.

Houston Area OSHA Training

Houston, Texas

In an effort to continue to improve our safety program, Freddy Garcia held a 10-hour Outreach Training session for all Houston Metro branches.

The training provided a general overview of recognizing and preventing hazards on a general industry site and a variety of safety and health hazards that can be encountered in our branches.  The focus of the training was to be able to identify, avoid, control and prevent hazards.

Branch managers and safety representatives attended the training and will receive additional training in hazards that are specific to their jobs.

Symons Formwork Safety Seminar

Houston, Texas

Bill Hicks from Symons recently held a training class at the Houston-South rental yard to reemphasize the importance of safety with our rental products.  Symons is raising awareness about safety after an employee, with 30 years experience, was fatally injured on the job.

The training focused on following safety procedures, the importance of not working alone, being aware of one’s surroundings and looking out for co-workers.

Oklahoma I-35 Expansion

Dobson Brothers Construction of Lincoln, Nebraska is currently working on the I-35 project in Ardmore, Oklahoma. This week Tom Brown (Branch 26) and Scott Griffin- GTI visited the site to give a demonstration of the GTI paving chairs to both Dobson Brothers and the Oklahoma DOT.

The contractor had never used GTI before but the on-site demo made the difference and Dobson Brothers committed to 67,000 chairs.
