University of North Texas Football Stadium

CMC Construction Services is supplying the construction products and rental hardware to Xavier Structures on the new University of North Texas Football Stadium in Denton, Texas. The structural concrete project consists of a new, ground up replacement stadium built on UNT’s Mean Green academic campus. The new stadium is LEED certified intended and is the largest construction project in the history of UNT.

David Moland and I began the project with a site visit and introductions to the project team including: project manager, operations manager, superintendent, safety manager and lead field engineer. After providing them with project pricing and help with submittal documents, we were able to spec in Shepler’s Performance Products including Shep 309 Rez-All cure and Shep Farm Fresh form release.

Our Houston Rental Yard supplied the RJD Industries Fiberglass Wall Tie system for the large concrete walls. Xavier used NoxCrete Formcoat E for the architecturally exposed walls and used Simpson Titen HD anchor bolts and Simpson SET-XP epoxy when necessary.

In addition to a wide variety of hand tools, bits, blades and other consumables, CMC has provided several Bosch Power Tools. Larger ticket items sold on this job include multiple truckloads of SureVoid carton form and WR Meadows PMPC Waterproofing Membrane required in several food preparation rooms. This project also requires larger than usual quantities of everyday, non-stock items including snap ties, grout, vapor barrier, Syknoflex, and Euclid Verticoat patching material.

The geographic location of the project just outside the DFW Metroplex has presented some service and delivery challenges. Luckily, the site is equally distant from both the Dallas and Fort Worth branches. Operations has done a good job of sharing the load between the two branches when facing critical delivery deadlines. Individual inside and outside salespeople have also sacrificed when necessary to help me keep this large project serviced. It has been a team effort all around and I look forward to a continued effort throughout 2010.
