Central Texas LCRA Power Plant

La Grange, Texas

LCRA plays a variety of roles in Central Texas: delivering electricity, managing the water supply and environment of the lower Colorado River basin, developing water and wastewater utilities and providing public recreation areas.

CMC Construction Services (CMC CS) was recently involved in one of the LCRA projects, the Fayette Power Project, near La Grange Texas. The plant had three columns repaired using the Symons Max-A-Form system. Minarcik Construction placed a 6” “concrete jacket” around each column and then poured in 8’ 0” lifts. Using the Symons system allowed the columns to be formed without tying or anchoring materials to the existing columns.

Ben Pratt (02) worked with Minarcik on the formwork for the job and CMC CS College Station branch supplied the complete package of concrete accessories including: water stop, slab bolster, epoxy and rebar.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has recognized the Fayette Power Project (FPP) for being accepted into its Clean Texas program, which recognizes organizations and facilities for exceeding environmental standards. FPP is the first coal-fired facility in Texas to be recognized at the gold level, the second highest level in the voluntary program.
