In-Depth Husqvarna Training Comes to Houston

Recently, our sales staff from Austin, San Antonio, Corpus Christ and Houston took part in a training conducted by Husqvarna in Houston, TX. As part of our commitment to our customer, these training events are paramount to have the most knowledgeable sales staff in the industry.

The training was broken up into two segments; sales training, product knowledge and hands-on product demos. The training included product information and sales approaches our salesmen can use to better help customers find the right solution to fit his need. The hands-on product training allowed the employees to see and use the full line of Husqvarna power tools that we offer.

Our 2013 Branches of the Year

Last week Branch of the Year trophies were awarded to two branches for outstanding Sales, Safety Record and Service. Beginning last year, CMC Construction Services began handing out two trophies based on volume for the following: Large Branch of the Year and Small Branch of the year.

This year the Large Branch of the Year went to Houston-NW (53). Tony Rodriguez the branch manager said, “Positive attitude and quality customer service is what makes us successful. My employees know how important teamwork is in having a safe working environment and good relations between the groups. Controlling inventory yet meeting customer demands is a daily challenge but with good communication within the team we are able to meet those demands.”

The Small Branch of the Year was awarded to Texas City (59). Terry Cook, Texas City Branch Manager, credits the success of her branch to teamwork. She says, “Our success is solely the result of teamwork! Everyone here does whatever it takes to get the job done, while keeping safety our number one priority.”

2013 TCA Convention

2013 TCA Convention

The TCA Annual Convention is THE premier gathering of the global tilt-up industry. This year’s event is packed with outstanding education that you are sure to find inspirational and incredibly valuable. The opportunities to improve your product are abundant at convention. Whether it is receiving feedback on a new adhesive, learning a new foundation detail, discovering efficient methods for troubleshooting cracks or saving money on rebar caps by ordering your steel with a hook, your work WILL improve as a direct result of your participation.

Tilt-Up Construction Training

Last week, members of our San Antonio area sales staff participated in a classroom training session about tilt-up construction given by Jimmie Ballard (00).

The training included an overview of the basic equipment, chemicals, techniques, and engineering used when constructing a tilt-up structure. This training is another example of the commitment to the customer, to provide a staff with the expertise and knowledge to answer all questions.

BASF Product Training in Houston

On Friday, members of our Houston area sales staff participated in a training session provided by BASF Construction Chemicals. BASF has been an industry leader in grouting and flooring construction materials for over 100 years.

The classroom training included an overview BASF grouts that are specifically catered to the needs of the petro-chemical industry. This type of in-depth training allows a greater depth of product knowledge and helps our sales team to better assist our customers when selecting products.

2013 Houston Administration CMC Service Awards

Service Awards are given each year in the spring to honor the dedication and commitment employees have given to Commercial Metals Company (CMC). Each year awards are presented to employees that have been with CMC for 5, 10, 15, 20 or 30 years. This past week Service Awards were presented to employees in our Administration Office in Houston, TX.

2013 Northwest Houston CMC Service Awards

Each year awards are presented to employees that have been with CMC for 5, 10, 15, 20 or 30 years. This past week Service Awards were presented to employees in our Northwest Houston, Texas location.

Ongoing Product Training at Houston South

Yesterday, part of our Houston area sales staff participated in a classroom training session provided by W.R. Meadows. W. R. Meadows manufactures premium-grade concrete construction products & building materials.

The classroom training included an overview of concrete, its applications, curing compounds, and concrete preparation. These types of ongoing trainings continue to set our sales staff apart with the extensive product knowledge and great customer service.

Westgate Office Complex

Westgate Office Complex

Houston, Texas

The Westgate Office Complex is part of the growing Energy Corridor in West Houston. The office complex was developed by Transwestern and will open this summer after breaking ground in September 2012. The project is pre-certified LEED Silver and will be a three building complete with separate parking structures for each building.

John Ballard (53) and Jimmie Ballard worked with E.E. Reed Construction and supplied tilt-up braces and hardware, bondbreakers, wood, corrugated metal, MEVA Lite and many more products.

Kelsey-Sebold Houston Administration Expansion

Pearland, Texas

Pearland, Texas

The new 170,000 sq. ft Kelsey-Sebold administration complex in Pearland, Texas is set to open in August 2013. When complete, this $21 million project will house 600 full time employees. The complex will become a central location to support Kelsey-Sebold’s physicians and clinics throughout the Houston area.

Bill Plouse rented Symons Steel Ply for the tunnel system and the complete tilt-up package including engineering, inserts and braces for the building. Gamma Construction also purchased vapor barrier, redwood expansion joints and lumber for the panels.
